This magnificent manuscript has only recently been identified, miraculously in near-perfect condition. Commissioned by Philippa of Guelders for her son Antoine of Lorraine, it was likely meant as educational literature for the prince, one of a set of manuscripts that now reside in Vienna at the Österreichische Nationalbibliothek. Though the other manuscripts show the hand of Jean Pichore, this exceptional piece shows three artists' styles: the Master of Philippa of Guelders, Jean Coene IV, and a third artist from the Pichore circle.
