Glockendon workshop
The fine illumination adorns text and music for the responsory sung at the Feast of Trinity Sunday and opens with the words 'Benedicat nos deus deus noster' (Ps. 66, v.7-8). Trinity Sunday is the first Sunday after Pentecost. It is a feast of joy and thanksgiving ('O bless our God, ye people, and make the voice of his praise to be heard'). This leaf is dated 1550 in a cartouche held by a putto in the outer margin.

Illuminated leaf on vellum.
506 x 365 mm. – Historiated initial B on a leaf from a choirbook written in Latin.
