We are very excited to be able to offer the position of a full-time, in-house Researcher of European Illuminated Manuscripts. This role is based at our office in Basel, so candidates must have the right to work in Switzerland and the EU.
This role offers the right candidate an opportunity to work intimately with the highest quality illuminated manuscripts from the European Middle Ages and Renaissance. Responsibilities include researching and writing dynamic and detailed descriptions of new objects that we acquire and assisting the Deputy Director in performing a wide range of tasks related to the sale of artwork. The Researcher role combines sales-oriented communication with the presentation of expertise on many different levels, and through many different media. This position offers a chance to network with clients and other scholars in the world of manuscripts, as well as travelling to international art fairs and exhibitions, for which the candidate would help organise and pack artwork with the team. This is a role for someone with a Ph.D. in Art History who speaks English (and ideally German) fluently, and who has proficiency writing and editing copy for publications and other content.
