In conjunction with our selection for SLAM's March E-Rendez-Vous - connected by the theme of Contemporary Binding - the Book of the Month for April is this Dutch Book of Hours.
This manuscript is bound in its original 15th-century brown leather, with a faded panel showing John the baptist surrounded by medallions. Executed by the community of the Brethren of the Common Life at Zwolle, this exquisite book provides a welcome companion to the three other items on display at SLAM's April e-Rendez-Vous event.
