Bruges Book of Hours exhibited in London

Dr. Jörn Günther Rare Books is pleased to participate in an engaging exhibition at London's White Space Gallery, From Pages to Sculpture: Artists' Books 1430 to the Present (5 - 22 October 2017). This thematic look at books as artistic canvas includes artists' books, prints, paintings, and our manuscript Book of Hours by the Masters of Otto van Moerdrecht (Bruges, c. 1430). The grouping invokes the legacy of Futurist, Dada, Surrealist, Fluxus, and prominently, Western conceptualist experiments which utilized the textual object and the processes inherent to language and publicity. While produced for radically different purposes than the other exhibited works, our Book of Hours demonstrates an early incredible exploration of textual illustration – one that sets a precedent for the artists' book as form.
